Where you been fool???

Ok true believers, sorry for the delay in posting (especially if your name rhymes with Garcia), but I want to be sure I have fun stuff to talk about because I don't want to post just to post. So without further ado let the games begin.

When I think of weekends I think of how relaxing and refreshing they should be but I find that I no longer want them to be filled with doing nothing. Drinks, dinners, movies, walks, races, the lake and new friends are all things that top the list now. Don't get me wrong , there is still a weekend here and there where I want nothing more than to plop down in front of the TV and either Netflix myself into a coma or bust some skulls on the Playstation with lots of junkfood within arms reach.

Going out recently has been mostly just hitting Applebee's for dollar beers because who can say no to dollar beers on date night. Although our sneaky waiter has confused us with this fuzzy math about buying the bigger beer because its cheaper. Now I admit, it has been 20 years since High School math, (20 years?? I'll save that topic for another time.)  but twice the beer for three times the price seems to not add up, but hes good about mentioning it when we've already had a couple so it usually works. But last weekend we switched it up and met a couple of our new Mardi Gras friends (shoutout to my girls)at The Grapevine in Dallas. It's a great sort of unassuming place that you wouldn't even really notice if you weren't looking for it but it has several great things working in it's favor...couches, a basketball court and something I had never really experienced before, the co-ed bathroom. Now if it was a one seater with a locking door it would be no big deal but there is no lock on the door and there are 2 stalls inside so it is a free for all bonanza which makes for great conversation while washing your hands. 2 thumbs up for The Grapevine, and if you are ever thirsty in Dallas, I recommend you give it a try.

While on the subject of things I would recommend, if you haven't seen Suckerpunch yet, you should run out and do it. I figured this was going to be one of those movies where you see all the cool stuff in the preview and there would be no surprises left, but I was wrong. It is filled with action and one of my favorite movie tactics, the artful technique of "not" showing us something. I won't say anything about what it is, but I love when a movie isn't scared to not show something. I always find my brain fills in the missing pieces in a much better way than the movie ever could have. Think of a horror movie that never shows you the bad guy, don't you think of something way scarier than any bad guy you have actually seen in a movie?? Besides being a Zack Snyder film, which makes it worth the ticket price based solely on his previous work, this movie has a great story and it leaves you with a feeling of empowerment when you leave the theater. Any movie that can have you leaving with a "feeling" in your head is worth seeing regardless of what that feeling is(see previous post about Human Centipede lol).

That has been the recent roundup of events of importance and coming up this weekend is my Birthday celebration and wing bash, the Deep Ellum Arts Fest and the Tarrant County AIDS Walk. If you would like to make a donation, go to www.firstgiving.com and do a search for my first and last name "Myles Jones". My continued thanks go out to everyone who has already donated. I truly appreciate it.  Walking has become a big part of my life, and what a great way to combine something I love with a great charity. So give big everyone!!

Well, that's all I've got for now but I'm already working on my next blog in my mind. Stay tuned for a Foodie Top 10!! Yeah you heard me, I'm a foodie and I love it. And now you know, and knowing is half the battle. YO JOE!!
