Lucky Number 7

7 years and still cheesy!!
I am sure most of you saw a post of Facebook but I wanted to expand on the humor of our 7th anniversary and felt  this was a more fun way to do that. We just hod our 7th anniversary on 7/7, and we opted to not buy presents for each other. We say that a lot, and then always do a little something despite saying we won't. I am not sure when and where the tradition was created but some wise person long ago decided what sort of material each years anniversary should be. Year one is paper, year 5 is paper, year 55 is emerald etc. Year 7 is cotton and/or copper. Richard, being the consummate  artist, made me a wonderful card with a cotton cloud and penny raindrops and a wonderful saying. He never ceases to amaze me with his creativity. I took a slightly different approach.

Great use of the materials, and super sweet!

Click the "read more" link to see the rest of the story. I didn't want you to see the other card until you had read this far.

I opted for the slightly less traditional, slightly more twisted and humorous angle. I taped pennies to tampons. Oh yes, I really did.  Now I don't claim to be the classiest guy around, but this seemed hilarious to me. Thankfully after 7 years, my excessively dry humor is no surprise to Richard. And ladies, I wouldn't recommend the 79 cent box at Wal-Mart. Just a little FYI for ya.
I think its funny.
We also opted out of the usual "go out to dinner" theme and made our own dinner and had a nice bottle of wine. We got one of the first bottles of this Syrah from a local winery we had just recently toured and saved it for the occasion. Grilled up some delicious herbed steaks with steamed asparagus and a steaming hot sweet potato. Don't forget the parmesan crostini!! The good part about loving to cook is that it doesn't seem like work. Makes it easy to cook instead of going out.

A little humor, a little dinner and the best man by my side that I could have ever hoped for. Thanks for the first 7, now lets work on the next 7!!

P.S. I LOVE YOU!! (No not you, well at least not in that way.)

  1. I love you, too. I don't know that it's been work, so the next 7 years will be a breeze. :)
